The same principles are applied to every product, so that manufacturers compete on a level playing field and specifiers, installers and homeowners can make meaningful comparisons based on independently verified evidence.
For example, thermal performance is calculated using the same approach every time so that one manufacturer’s figure means the same as the next one’s. The result is a clearer, more consistent way to understand product performance.

The Performance Stars make the results easy to see. Each star represents a specific, verified characteristic of the product. They are not rankings or an overall score they show what the product has demonstrated against the scheme’s requirements.

One mandatory star
U-value is the only mandatory star. A product that cannot demonstrate a verified U-value meeting the scheme’s requirements cannot be placed on the directory.

Five earned stars
Condensation Risk, Acoustic, Solar, Weather and Security are awarded only where the Scheme requirements are met. Not applying and not meeting the scheme requirements both mean no star.

No stars on goodwill
Thresholds and criteria have to be met. If a product does not meet one, the route forward is to develop the product and submit again — no negotiation.
